We are joining the blog trend of Monday posts about what we have read during the last week (8/5/19-8/11/19).
Annamarie’s Reading
Annamarie’s top titles include:
- Hangry by Drew Brockington
- How to Draw a Unicorn and Other Cute Animals with Simple Shapes in 5 Steps by Lulu Mayo
- Katie Woo’s Neighborhood by Fran Manushkin and Laura Zarrin
- Panda Opposites by Suzi Eszterhas
- Sadiq and the Fun Run by Siman Nuurali and Anjan Sarkar
- Sadiq and the Pet Problem by Siman Nuurali and Anjan Sarkar
- Turtle and Tortoise Are Not Friends by Mike Reiss and Ashley Spires
Note: Annamarie serves as chair of the ALSC Notable Children’s Recordings Committee. Due to her position, she listens to and evaluates many audiobooks for children and teens. Annamarie never includes any of the audiobooks she listens to in her “What Are You Reading?” posts.
Michala’s Reading
Michala’s top titles include:
- Saving Fiona by Thane Maynard
- What is a Sloth? by Ginger Swift illustrated by Manu Montana
- A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: the Poetry of Mister Rogers by Fred Rogers, illustrated by Luke Flowers with contribution by Josie Carey
- We Told Six Lies by Victoria Scott
- Deadendia: The Watcher’s Test by Hamish Steele
- I’m Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones and Gilly Segal
- The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes
- Minus by Lisa Naffziger
- Let Me Hear a Rhyme by Tiffany D. Jackson
Note: Teen Tober?! Really? Michala’s teens will only mock any programs made with that moniker. Sorry not sorry, YALSA, but October will not have Teen Tober, we are just gonna go with Teen Reads and Teen Tech weeks during that time next year.
I was surprised by deadendia and hope there’ll be more adventures.
Actually, Deadendia: The Broken Halo: Book 2 should be coming out this fall!
I liked this one as a read for some of my teens last school year, but just re-read it for a book club I’m in. Im glad I did because now I remember everything for the next part in November.
Thanks for checking out our reads!
I appreciated Katie Woo’s Neighborhood. Let Me Hear a Rhyme has now been added to my list. Thanks for the heads up.
Yay! Both for inclusion and for new titles to read.
Thanks for checking out our reads.
I hope I can get my hands on the SADIQ books! And I’m also looking forward to reading Let Me Hear a Rhyme very soon. Thanks for these titles shares, Annamarie & Michala!
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood sounds like the perfect book for my preschooler, and I’m Not Dying with You Tonight sounds perfect for me! Have a great reading week!

Glad that you could find both something for yourself and your kiddo with my reads for this week.
Thanks for checking out our reads!
Oh my word, so many adorable picture books I haven’t read yet! Being on mat leave has me falling so far behind in my picture book reading!!!
I’m eager to get my hands on the Sadiq books. They look fun. I just read Hangry today. I have certainly had those days. I’ve been looking forward to getting I’m Not Dying With You Tonight. Have a great week.
